And that brings us here to May 28th. Megan and Nathan’s wedding.  Every time I get to hang out with this group, it only gets to be more fun and we all become closer. Megan and Nathan were married at the Rock Hill Plantation in Stafford County..about an hour north of Richmond.  It was an awesome location..not huge, so it was easy to navigate around and work with all of the different areas it has to offer. Its run by a couple who lives in the house..Reverend Will and his will Jo Anne. They were an amazing treat to work with throughout the day, and I’ll look forward to going back there again.

The day was awesome..warm, but not hot..extremely cloudy but it didn’t rain one drop. I can’t tell you how much I love a cloudy day..makes for the best photographs.  Everything was there at the plantation, so it made it easier not having to go anywhere and delay time. The ceremony was held at a gazebo just off of the house, and the reception followed in a small veranda building on the other side of the property.  It was a great time because it felt like I was able to hang out and take pictures of friends I have known for years. I made some new friends too. This was definitely one of my favorite of this year.  In September, I’ll be shooting Rita’s wedding,  she is another one in this group of best friends. I can’t wait. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate getting to know and work with couples like this.  On the 22nd of May I had the great pleasure of working with Katie and Josh. It makes me a little sad sometimes when the wedding day has come and gone.  But then it means I get to blog, update websites, and design albums for that couple! I have been working with these guys for close to over the past year..we have done engagement photographs, bridal photographs, a rehearsal dinner, and then finally the wedding! I love having the time like this to get to know who I’m working with..and its always something to think about when your booking a wedding photographer. You will be spending a good deal of time together, and an even greater deal of time communicating. If the connection isn’t there between the photographer and bride or couple..it just won’t work that well and could potentially be a very uncomfortable situation.

Back to the story..I had Elise and Lauren helping me with this wedding.  When I have both of them with me, its almost too easy somedays..they know exactly what to do.  The wedding was held at Mount Vernon Baptist Church on Nuckols road. This was the 2nd or 3rd wedding we have done at this church now..we always enjoy being able to move around easily in such a large sanctuary.  The reception was held at the Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center on Mountain Road.  We had our great friend Jason Paige of Celebrity Radio DJ’s playing the music and providing lighting for the party.  The cake was done by Cakes by Graham, who always does an exceptional job. They invited me to their rehearsal dinner which was held in the Suntrust building in downtown Richmond.  I posted a few shots from that day too! talk about a view?

Getting the wedding for Sarah and Scott was a pretty big deal to me.  Sarah’s dad is Dennis Collins who is a local wedding officiant in the area..I have worked a few weddings with him under this roll.  He is also a wedding DJ for Manny Green Entertainment, and we have done a few other weddings with him under this roll as well..he is a master of the wedding trades! I had the opportunity to shoot the wedding for one of their family neighbors last May. Dennis, Sarah’s dad was the DJ. It was much of his recommendation that landed us this wedding..so Thank you Dennis!

Sarah and Scott were married at Celebrations at the Reservoir. I think this may have been one of the last mild days we had before our summer truly hit us in June and July. The day was warm, but not hot..it was on the water too, so that gave us a nice breeze during the ceremony and reception.  Everything went as smooth as it could have gone, and both of the families were really great to work with. Manny Green was the DJ for us that day, and Celebrations did all of the catering and flowers.  Their cake was done by a friend named Becky Bolhuis.

There were so many great emotions at this wedding. This is why I love doing them so much..they are all different, and all have their own unique stories. Here are some of my favorites from the wedding.  Please enjoy these

The Wedding was held at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Salt Lake City, followed by the reception at the Red Butte Garden. This is a garden facility similar to the one here at Lewis Ginter, but 4 or 5 times larger, a top a hill overlooking the city.

The few days following the wedding, Dave and Macee went to Arches National Park in Moab and other areas.  I will be posting a link to their pictures at some point in the near future.

There was a short reception in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the ceremony. After that, we had over an hour in the city to play around and take photos with Lee Ann and Brandon, along with their bridal party. I really can’t explain how much fun we had together. Last weekend May 8th we had the chance to shoot two really great weddings.  Dave shot a wedding up in Culpepper with Macee and Brittany, our new assistant. They got to work with Erika and Rusty
at their farmhouse and property.  This was the second wedding we have gotten to shoot at this location.

In august of 2008, we shot the wedding for Jason and Jennifer (Erika’s brother).

Its such an amazing place.  Here are a few of the photos from their wedding.  This is probably one of the most hidden places you can experience.  There is no cell phone service, and its pretty tough to get to if you don’t know the area.  Drive through a thicket of tree’s and here it is.  Please enjoy these.

So last week I had the opportunity to shoot the engagement photos for Kefu and Nick.  The wedding for these 2 is later this year on September 5th.  I can’t tell you how much I love doing engagement photographs with couples because it gives you such a great chance to get to know them.

We spent about an hour together in the Bottom of Richmond, just walking around, talking, and taking photos.  We had a great time together just hanging out.  It was a pretty warm Cinco De Mayo, but I don’t think you can tell by these.  I hope you all enjoy.

So this past Saturday we had a great wedding out at The Mill at Fine Creek. The couple was Kathryn and Dave, and they couldn’t have had a much better day in March to have the wedding on. Dave and Macee were shooting with me.

One of the reasons this was so fun for us was because so many of our great friends were taking part in the wedding too. We arrived a little earlier than normal to get some hair and makeup photos for Lou of Lou Stevens Glam Squad. Not long after we arrived, the cake was delivered from our great friends at Bakers Kitchen. Flowers were provided by Flowers Make Scents.

I wouldn’t say anything unusual or real crazy happened at this one. It was just a great day for a wedding, and lots of fun. The music and dance lighting were provided by Jason Paige of Celebrity Radio DJ’s. He is also one of our favorites to work with, knows how to keep everything flowing right.

I think the most important elements to a wedding are great friends, great family, and a ton of love to go around. All of these were present on this night. I’m looking forward to another year of many more like this.
