So this past Saturday February 20, I shot our first wedding of the year. I don’t think I’ve had a wedding that has kicked off a year in any better way. The weather was perfect..in the low-mid 50’s during the day, then in was chili in the evening but we were indoors then. The coupe was Laura and Jake. The Ceremony was at Westhampton Baptist Church in Richmond. The day did not start there though. at 3 pm I met Jake and the groomsmen at an in disclosed location in Richmond that we love to use. If you know the city well, you should know where these are at. But we got several sets of photos, then I went and met Laura and her bridesmaids at the grounds of the capital. We did not have a chance to meet up with them while they got ready but they were having hair and makeup done with our great friends Lou and Amanda of Lou Stevens Glam Squad. This group was so much fun to work with. Its so much fun to have a group of relaxed individuals who love having their photograph taken. These guys all had so much character, it made everything so easy. Its hard to believe we get paid for this sometimes. The ceremony turned out awesome..an easy church to work with, especially the staff there. Its great to have churches that are so accommodating to photographers. There are some churches that can really frown on photographers and impose some pretty crazy rules. This is usually due in part to some weekend warrior (a photographer who isn’t a professional..someone who has a digital camera that gets the chance to shoot a wedding) who was fooling around and stood up on a pew, got too close to the ceremony, or just made a jerk of them-self. But this church was great…I would work there anytime. Then the reception followed at the Country Club of Virginia which was our first to work there. What an amazing location! They were extremely accommodating to everybody, and so efficient at what they did. The food was outstanding. Gary Meyer from Choice Entertainment was the DJ making the party happen. Everything was so great about this wedding. The families were so great and such genuine people. I could only hope every wedding could be like this. It was definitely one to remember.
