So on Wednesday the 3rd of March, my Dad and I flew out to Las Vegas for our anual WPPI convention. I’m afraid I won’t be posting about that. This is where we learn new styles, techniques, and just get completely fired up for the upcoming year of photography. I don’t know about you, but our year of photography doesn’t technically start until March usually. Anywho, this post isn’t about that. So after we flew in Wednesday afternoon, we went to our must-eat-at sushi restaurant Todai. Todai is located in the shops at the Miracle Mile which is part of Planet Hollywood. Its basically the biggest, best sushi buffet you can lay your eyes on. They don’t open until about 5 and when they do, they usually fill up. People load up on any kind of sushi you can imagine, plus there are choices of hot Japanese foods, as well as some basic American fare you would find at any buffet. Costs about 40 bucks a person, but its well well worth it if you love sushi. We do.
So then on Thursday morning, we woke up early to drive up to Zion National Park in southern Utah. When we can, we try to go to a national park for a couple of days to see what there is to see and shoot photographs, and just enjoy nature. Its about a 3 hour drive north of Las Vegas.

But once we got into Zion, we experienced pretty much every possible weather pattern you could imagine. Rain, snow, fog, clouds, sunny, all at once and everything above. Here are a couple of shots still on the way into the park.

There aren’t many ways to show how big these mountains really are. We are already at about 3500 elevation and they get up to around 9600 or so.

this is the same day as from above
